A few more pictures of Amy

I keep getting pictures from Amy. One of them is of a man there who does wookworking. She says that he is amazing. He make the ore in the picture.

The picture of all of the people in the canoe is a youth outing to go to another island to play baseball and volleyball. I sure haven't had any ward outings like that one.

Hello to Dad and Amy

This last Sunday we had a little get together at Julia's house. It was really fun. We had a pot luck. Check out that dark hair on Kiki. You can tell that Chelsea was the one with the camera.

More from Hermana Meeks

Amy is in Panama City until this Friday so she gets to email everyday. So today she sent more pics and I wanted to share them. The women are making the alcoholic punch that they drink at their drunken five day party. She says that she loves to cut down banana trees and that the people come and get her to cut them down since she is so much taller than they are.

The crabs in the pictures that I posted yesterday were 50 cents each. I would eat crab for all three meals everyday if I was there.

She dresses in the native dress most days, however in the pics where she is so casual she said she was going to get water.

The blue paint on her nose is something that one of the members put on her. It is from some plant that they get up in the mountains.

The sugar cane she is eating comes from behind her house. She loves it.

There is also a picture of Amy's companion. She is 52 years old. She gets to talk to her family anytime she wants to so Amy is a little jealous. LOL Amy is training her.

In the picture of Amy with the children dancing she is teaching them the worm. She's still our Amy!!!!!!

Hermana Meeks latest update

Today I got to email with Amy. She is back in Panama City for a few days to get food, take a shower, take care of business and then will fly back to San Blas to complete her mission. In one of the pics she is washing her hair. Funny!!! She has to wash her hair in a river and the other day when she was down there a crocodile came out of the river and up the bank of the river. She said she thought she was going to die. No one bothered to tell her about the crocodiles in the river.

Another one of the pictures is of her first baptisms in San Blas. I believe that the picture is taken outside of the church as the church is built out over the water. The young girl that is being baptised is so sweet. Her mother was 12 years old when she had her and her father is 14 years older than her mother. She has ten brothers and sisters and cannot read or write. Amy and her comp are giving her reading lessons everyday.

There are also pics of Amy in the native indian dress, molas, and she was doing the traditional Indian dance with them. They said she caught on really well but thought it was funny when she did the Indian dance and added in the robot. That's our girl!!!!!!

Effie having a lemon

Trisha and I took Effie on a horse drawn sleigh ride (in the parking lot of Covina High School) and then we took Effie to get something to eat.

Here is a video of her eating her first lemon. It's funny.

R.J., Grammy and Chelsea's train trip

During the Christmas holiday R.J. came and spent the night with Chelsea and I. He loves trains so we rode the metrolink to Union Station in Los Angeles to see the decorations and then we went across the street to Olivera Street for lunch. We had so much fun having a special day with R.J.
